Sweat to Sparkle with Ryman Fitness (3)




This princess packs a serious punch! 

Not only is Lizzie Ryman a kick ass cowgirl, she is a 2017 Calgary Stampede Princess and is also a Certified Personal Trainer who operates Ryman Fitness out of Calgary, and Cochrane, Alberta. Through positive and upbeat motivation and guidance, her fitness program is tailored to balance a healthy and fit lifestyle. We're taking the work out to the barn this week. My barn managers, lopers, grooms and slaves to your ponies and to the never-ending barn chores... this circuit is for you!

Circuit - one minute per exercise
15 second rest in-between
repeat three times

1. Deep Squats


Grab two hay bales, and a weighed down water bucket, and get to squatting.

2. Toe Taps

3. Bulgarian Split Squats


Ensure that your hips are aligned and you aren't over-extending your forward knee.

4. Incline Push-Ups


5. Plank Leg Lifts




This week we're bringing you a healthy, easy and yummy, dinner alternative:

Spaghetti Squash and Lean Ground Turkey: 

Spaghetti squash can be a great low carb alternative to pasta! 
Preheat oven to 400, and slice the squash in halves. 
Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt. 
Bake 40 - 45 minutes, and use a fork to scrape out the “spaghetti” when done!
Add lean ground turkey to your favourite pasta sauce, pick a veggie to complement, and enjoy!

This week was definitely a bit of a struggle for me. I started off the week really slow, really lacking energy and really lacking any desire to workout. I got really busy and instead of planning ahead... I started planning trips to Tim Hortons. Whoopsies. By Wednesday I got myself together. For those of you that really struggle with eating healthy when busy, here's my magic tip of the day. A crockpot. I'm probably one of the least picky eaters you'll meet, and so this may be easier for me than others but I literally throw in a bunch of veggies, lean turkey and some seasoning in my crock pot, cook for 6 hours, split up into containers and freeze. I'll eat that every night for dinner until gone. Some of you may be like... wtf, is she a bird or something? But like I said, my issue with food is sheer laziness, and I don't get urges to binge or snack like some people do so having stupidly easy to cook meals at the ready completely fits my lifestyle. Mid-week I had a great workout session with Lizzie and Brigitte (our lovely model for the above videos), and I discovered that some exercises are simply not for me. Cue me laying flat on an exercise ball, utterly confused, not being able to do the exercise and telling everyone I look like a dead seal. After my initial slow start to the week, things got back on track and I feel excited for the week ahead. Happy Monday ya'll! <3
