Life... with a Western Twist.
^ That, right there, is what it's about.
With a Western Twist began as a foray into a Lifestyle Blog, but has turned into a portfolio, and direct window, into who I am and what I am passionate about. This blog delves into my own personal experience in the horse-world, but also in the experiences, and stories, of others. I am constantly thinking up new posts, better interviews, and great reviews, that can inspire and intrigue those that read this blog. With a Western Twist has something for everybody - not just cowgirls, and western riders, but equestrians, part-time riders, city-bound horse lovers, and everything in between.
About the Author:
My name is Louisa, and I am a 23 year old who is admittedly horse obsessed. I see myself as a story teller, more than anything else. Stories, whether fictional, or real, have always enchanted me, and this blog is a true extension of that passion. I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, in a family that was severely un-horsie. However, luckily, in the summertime of my formative years I attended, and worked at, a summer camp called Bates Bar J Ranch. It was here my love for horses, and a western lifestyle, emerged and was nurtured. At the age of 21, I graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Arts in Social and Cultural Anthropology with a minor in History. From there, I went off into my own personal "europe trip/gap year". I spent the greater part of the year living in Texas and Arizona working for cutting horse trainers.
After an amazing 10 months in the USA, I came home with a new lease on what I wanted my future to look like. I wanted to work in my province, a place that I love and cherish deeply. I wanted to work in the Horse industry, in a fulfilling job that makes it so that I can enjoy my lifestyle. Finally, I wanted to ride and show cutting horses. At the moment, I am working towards those big three... not an easy task but slowly and patiently, I am achieving it.
I hope you enjoy, comment and continue to share my passion with me!
